At last at the Ya-Lao stream, Cao Cao's troops achieved a general breakthrough of Zhou lines with Shu Special Forces and Intelligence Support. Despite attempts at an orderly retreat order rapidly broke down as over the many weeks of fighting Zhou troops had become battered and tired. Reports of the destruction of the 501st and other elite units following the assault on Chaldea's base had dealt a serious morale blow Most of the troops at the frontline weren't even first-rate troops, the elite and intact formations having retreated to the capital for the final stand.
Now a vanguard of Cao Cao's mobile corps is among the first to ever see the walls of the hostile capital. However, in advancing so far so short her supply lines have become stretched beyond imagination. She is despite being close to grasping victory, also being grasped by defeat. Should the fight continue on there of any period of length is little doubt that her forces will be surrounded and be destroyed.
Preparations are being made for Cao Cao for one final assault, Zhou troops mobilize for a final stand and devastating counter-attack, the very fate of China and the human order hangs in the balance
The final fight is approaching and only Chaldea now can hope to turn the tide.
The fear effect of the territory around the city has been brought down thanks to the efforts of Ciel and Shiki.
But the work is far from done.
Suddenly a voice would echo through the streets, magnified by invisible speakers. The familiar voice of Li Ru.
"Friends, comrades, even enemies, I speak to you all now. These many years have been a tragic and bloody one, we have all been caught in slaughter for what seems like a decade now. All this we fought and suffered for in the hopes of liberating China from the old order and evils that had engulfed it for a thousand years. We were going to throw over the yoke of oppression by the warlords and tyrants that pillaged our nation for their own goals, leaving us weak. We were going to return power to where it belonged, in the hands of the people with a revolution by the people.
I know to tell you this with a tragic heart. That part of this was a lie. Dong Zhou and her evil government never truly died. I had promised that despite possessing her name we were different, that we were redeemed. I was wrong. Through witchcraft and the dark arts, she still draws breath and has usurped my government from me and ran it like a puppet. I am sorry to say that the last few years you did not fight a war for liberation and freedom, you fought a false war by Dong Zhou.
I and many others hold the blame for this. As we should as we allowed this. But times have changed and the time has come. We can redeem ourselves with another revolution. As I am sure many of the officers loyal to me have received their orders to size vital points and armories for our march against the palace to overthrow the tyrant. Once that is done we will reel about and expulse the invader Cao Cao with our forces. Soon China will be freed.
(edited)Know this, the traitor Dong Zhou seeks to destroy all of China in fire and flames with her wrath and is about to do so soon. You are our last line, our last hope my fellow troopers of Zhou. This is not a fight for Zhou, this is not a fight for even China, this is a fate for the fate of humanity. What we shall do here will echo for all eternity.
Some may call this a coup. Some may call this a dirty-handed trick to seize power but all of you know the truth and what we must do. This is a liberation like we should have always done.
So march onward soldiers, side by side with those that bear the purple sash upon their forearms and fight in my name, for by my side and with my Servant as well shall move upon the palace and take back the throne in a glorious people's revolution. We shall redeem ourselves. We shall redeem China!
Long live scared Zhou. Long Live the dream! Long Live China!"
With that there was silence. A long moment of silence fell over the city as it tried to form a response.
(edited)Ba'al would unleash her power fitting for one of her divinity in a storm of vengance.
The swollen clouds over the capital buckled and exploded. Blinding forks of lightning blinked downwards in a hundred places out of heaven that had previously been clear and sultry blue. Blocks of buildings exploded in fire and flames under the electrical hammer blow.
Deafening. The less hardy of both Wei and Zhou instantly became deaf as the storm cracked like a massive explosion.
Water and fire. Steam everywhere. Just chaos.
(edited)Despite the machinations of a rouge Dark Apostle created by experimentation and the resurrection of King Hassan under its control, Ciel and Shiki managed to battle through the undead hordes of the factory to reach the sigil that had been lost in the center.
Now teleportation can be has been broken all over the city save for the insides of the palace itself. And even that field has been greatly weakened. A determined effort, or an object stolen from the palace from vistits before, could allow a safe teleport right behind enemy lines.
@PlayerA flying bird arrived at the war camp of Cao Cao's. The message that its bring was Cao Cao's has arrived at the designation point to make an entrance on the basement of the Palace. Unfortunately their escape was blocked and they need someone to get them out.
